Magnesium Hot Chocolate (Vegan)
Recipe and write-up courtesy of Calmful Living by Natural Vitality.
This is the ultimate recipe for healthy and calming magnesium hot chocolate. Pure-food chef Natalia KW marries the two in this nourishing and nurturing warm drink—perfect for sipping and chilling. The cashews replace milk and make it even creamier.
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- ¼ cup raw cashews
- ¼ cup raw cacao powder
- 3 tablespoons maple syrup or honey for a non-vegan option
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- 2 servings Natural Calm, cherry flavour (or any other flavour you like), dissolved in 10 oz very hot water
Instructions
- Place the 1 cup water, cashews, cacao powder, sweetener, oil, vanilla and salt in a high-speed blender.
- Blend until very smooth.
- Pour into a pan and warm.
- Divide evenly between two large mugs.
- Divide the prepared Natural Calm between each mug.
- Stir well and serve immediately. Enjoy!
Notes
You can substitute cashews with any plant milk, or if you prefer dairy, use regular milk or cream. Using whole cashews keeps this recipe minimally processed, but you can simplify it however you like.
To make this sugar-free, use stevia in place of the natural sweeteners suggested above.

Make Your Own Magnesium Tea Recipe (with Natural Calm)
Chamomile is a classic option for sleep, but you can add Natural Calm magnesium to any herbal tea you like and drink it morning or night.
While our Calmful Sleep formula does contain sleep-specific ingredients and that particular product is only for nighttime, Natural Calm pure magnesium citrate is not a sedative. Magnesium actually helps to generate energy during the day when you need it and facilitates the release of sleep hormones at night. So, Natural Calm can be taken any time of day.
What are some other herbal tea + Natural Calm magnesium combinations you can try?

We don’t recommend you combine magnesium with caffeinated black tea, green tea, or coffee. Caffeine is a diuretic and speeds up the process by which your body excretes magnesium. So, keep your caffeine and your magnesium separate.
