Linda Bolton Awarded in PROFIT/Chatelaine W100 Ranking of Canada’s Top Female Entrepreneurs

For two consecutive years, Linda Bolton has been recognized as one of Canada’s top female entrepreneurs.

Ranked #48 in the Top 100 in 2015

W100 2015

Here is Linda’s response in 2015, in her own words:

“Thanks to our amazing team, incomparable partners, and the customers who make it all possible, I am proud to rank among the top 100 women leading big-impact organizations across the country.

It is such an honour to be included in the PROFIT/Chatelaine W100 ranking of Canada’s Top Female Entrepreneurs – this year, at #48!

The W100 scores contenders based on business size, growth rate and profitability. Our company is certainly growing, but ‘profitability’ is a different calculation.

We reinvest profit in growing the business, as do most companies. What makes us unique is that we channel all profits after business expenses into Organics 4 Orphans (O4O).

To learn more about the movers-and-shakers on the W100 list, look for their profiles published in the June issue of Canadian Business and online at PROFITguide.com and chatelaine.com.

It’s my hope that the exposure for our company inspires other entrepreneurs to put a social or environmental mission at the centre of their business. I know that Natural Calm’s social mission and giving to Organics 4 Orphans inspires our employees, our customers, and every partner who has helped to make this possible.

Many thanks for your loyalty to our brand and your ongoing encouragement.”

Ranked #67 in the Top 100 in 2014

Here’s Linda’s response to the 2014 PROFIT/Chatelaine W100 ranking:

“Nine years ago I placed my first small order of Natural Calm with modest expectations. Little did I suspect that first business decision would lead me to rank among the country’s top businesswomen.

I am proud to rank this year in the 16th annual W100 ranking of Canada’s Top Female Entrepreneurs.

This recognition places me with the likes of some high-powered ladies – women at the head of the fastest-growing, most profitable businesses in Canada. The W100 ranks candidates using a composite score based on the size, growth rate and profitability of their businesses.

I come in under the small business category. With only three employees, we’re no empire! And yet, it’s validation: we’re clearly doing things right.

If it seems gauche to celebrate profitability, consider this: the more we make, the more we give. From the start we committed to giving all profits after business expenses to Organics 4 Orphans. No matter how much we grow, that will never change.

How do we keep expenses low and profits high?

We contain salaries: our wages are modest, and we all wear multiple hats. The office and shipping centre is our renovated basement. The boardroom is our dining table.

And we don’t engage in price wars with other magnesium brands. We believe $0.25/day is a reasonable price to pay to sleep well, ward off migraines, anxiety and disease. Millions agree – Natural Calm sells so well in the US and here because it works!

I’m thrilled with what this recognition means for our business, and personally, I’m gratified by the accolades. It’s rewarding to have one’s work recognized. But the real meaning of what we do truly comes from making a difference.

We’re helping Canadians to get calm and get healthy, and every product sale helps end hunger, malnutrition, disease and poverty in some of the world’s poorest communities through Organics 4 Orphans.

Every day I’m motivated to grow the company so that we can help more people. But it isn’t a feat I can accomplish on my own.

None of it could have been possible without our loyal customers and wonderful partners! I am truly grateful for your support. I have you and my stellar team to thank for the past nine years of phenomenal growth and truly satisfying work.

If there were a ranking of Most Grateful Entrepreneurs, I would be #1.”
