December 1, 1953 was a life changing day for me. I was born to two wonderful parents in Cabbagetown, Toronto. In my twenties I worked as a nurse at The Hospital for Sick Children and witnessed many children die at a very young age. I determined at that time that I would not get upset about aging but that I would be thankful for each year that I got older instead of getting upset like so many people do as they advance in years.
As a teenager, I can remember always wanting to have my own business but after working for 20 years as a nurse and 16 years as a pastor, I thought that my dream had passed me by. Little did I know what God had in store for Dale and me when He opened the door for us to start Natural Calm Canada and subsequently, Organics 4 Orphans.
So here I am at sixty and enjoying life more than ever with my amazing adventurous husband Dale; experiencing many things than we never dreamed possible. Every day is like a miracle! We feel like two kids in a candy shop who have been given a new lease on life.
Not only is Natural Calm magnesium impacting the health of thousands of people across Canada but the profits from our products sales are helping to end extreme poverty through teaching the poor how to become self-sufficient through organic gardening and natural medicine. We now have a training school in Kenya that is teaching men and women from many countries around the world how to impact their communities and orphanages through food security, disease prevention, nutritional training and income generation.
The other benefit that I have taken away from becoming involved in the Natural Health Industry is learning to become healthy myself. When I first started using Natural Calm magnesium I suffered with severe insomnia, fibromyalgia symptoms such as muscle pain and low bone density. Through years of studying, understanding and applying the knowledge that I have learned about nutrition, diet and exercise, I feel younger than I did ten years ago. I am also able to share with family, friends and our customers about the importance of taking magnesium on a daily basis and how to live a healthier lifestyle.
One of the greatest joys in my life is my family. My relationship with my husband Dale is absolutely wonderful (most of the time LOL) and we seem to grow closer and more in love as each year passes. Our children and grandchildren (6 at this time) bring us so much love and joy that my heart overflows. It is fun to watch our children attempt to be the great parents that we tried so hard to be. I laugh sometimes to hear our son Chad complain about his son Jack’s attitude. All I can say is it that there is a God in heaven who has a great sense of humour!
My goal going forward is to live every aspect of my life to the fullest. To be a good steward of the amazing body that God has given to me, to nurture my soul by laughing more, being less serious and to grow closer to Jesus the older I get. Most importantly I want to be thankful for all the incredible blessings that my Heavenly Father has provided.
